The year 2001 was the time when Australia came to India to conquer there final frontier as they have momentum of winning 16 test matches at home and were undefeated for nearly 2 years(It all started with there historic win at Hobart against Pakistan in 1999) but they lost or unable to take that trophy in pocket despite having one hand at the cup thanks to some unbelievable efforts from some Indian players. What happened in that series is beyond any logic or explanation for any cricket pandit. It was those things that make sports a profession of uncertainty and glory where one just enjoys the moment or a dream of there life and other just have agony, hands on his head or thinking about what if kinds of things in mind.

In 2004 when Aussies came again to India they have another chance to conquer the last shore which they miss out and probably wants to prove a point because India also not allow them to win BGT in Australia in 2003-04. This time they were better prepared and have better strategy to tackle Indian conditions. There were clear plans by medical instructor for players so that they don't get burn out like sip drinks instead of gulping them, they have a yoga instructor to not feel them burden out there outdoor tours or visits were very limited basically they were desperate or wants to conquer this part of the world Australia got a set back even before tour began as there captain and run machine Ricky Ponting ruled out of first three test matches thanks to injury, India also dealing with there own setbacks as Sachin is dealing with his injury or a very different kind of injury that any cricketer ever going to get (Tennis Elbow) and was ruled out for first two test matches. The first test began on 6th October in iconic M Chinnaswamy stadium Bangalore(a second home for Virat Kohli now) and to everyone surprise Australia gave debut to Michael Clarke who was averaging below 40 in FC cricket and many eyebrows were raised over his place in team over other deserving players. Both played with caution and add 107 runs before Katich perish on 81 and match still hanging in balance but what happen after that an on slaughter on Indian bowlers by Gilchrist(probably the most destructive batter and valuable player of test cricket at that time), he and Clarke added 167 runs in just 35 overs against Indian bowlers, the pain ends for India with Gilchrist getting out on 104 in the mean process Clarke complete his century(later he got 100 in his debut game in Australia and join rare club of cricketers to get 100 on debut at home and away in test and second Australian) when he was on 98 he call out and wear his baggy green and put down his helmet despite facing Zaheer Khan Australia bundle out on 474 and Harbhajan pick up a fifer for India although his last four wickets were of tail enders alongside Gilchrist. India start there innings and probably what is in store for there side with Akash Chopra get out on a duck after at sea on three balls of McGrath in classical Drishyam movie dialogue it was the sense of beginning of something and what is going to unfold for India in that series, in next over Mcgrath got Dravid on duck which going to witness one of his lowest point as batters in that series there was bit of resilience from Sourav who got two repreview on Kasprowicz bowling but it ended with 83 runs partnership and than came Australia's biggest nemesis VVS Laxman who was there biggest scalp or fear striker with his absolute genius batting against them there was close of day play and Indian fans are expecting him to bail India out but he got out to an absolute beauty of Shane Warne which just took his off stump and bring joy to every Australian fans and players face Laxman walks of with a smile because he knew he can't do much about it India fold out for 246 but Australia didn't enforce follow on this time and probably a strategy of playing waiting game rather than going for kill the next innings Aus fold out for 228 and set a daunting target of 457 to chase the next innings for India start with another horror when Sehwag was given lbw by Billy Bowden on McGrath despite getting a clear wood of the bat, Sehwag before departing told Bowden he got a clear edge as a gesture in anger and soon the score card become 3 for 12 and Laxman joined by Dravid and there is a sense of hope among Indian fans that these two will repeat the heroics of Adelaide and Kolkata for India but Warne just finish there hopes by castling Laxman on 3 and writing was written on the wall. India finish the day on 105 for 6 and the defeat was put down by Dravid for day 5 who finished on 47 and somehow save India's humility the next day he got to his fifty(eventually his only half century in that series) and Aussie finish the formalities before Pathan and Bhaji put up a partnership of 89 and cross India 200.India lost the match by 217 runs and Australia have told the world they are ready for what they deserve.

The second test began in Chennai at classical MA Chidambaram Stadium which is famous for hosting some historic games of cricket and whose crowd consider very sporting in nature(which generally not associated with any other part of India),Gilly with his luck calls right at the toss and choose to bat this time Hayden and Gilchrist started with a 100 runs opening partnership and signs start looking ominous for India before the biggest match winner of India took proceedings in his hand and start his march. Kumble on day 1 of that track bowled beautifully and his bowling has every ingredient what makes him special despite not having wizardry of Murali or eye pleasing of Warne. From 136-0 Australia bundle out to 235 adding 99 runs for losing 10 wickets., Kumble on day 1 on that batting paradise took 7 wickets. India start there innings and lost Yuvraj on 6 and joint Murali as highest wicket taker on second day he surpass Murali by getting Pathan out but after that Australia face fierce blade of Sehwag who shows his class and entertain Chennai crowd. It was his 25th test match and he got to his eighth hundred, he perished on 155 and there was debate about which one got better 155 on that Chepauk ground(the Sachin one) he got out on a long hop delivery by Warne a dismissal which is quite synchronized for leg spinner dismissal later Kaif and Parthiv stitch 102 runs partnership, the Chennai heat took a toll on Kaif and he eventually have to settle with a runner and eventually got run out in a very strange manner. India bundle out for 376 and took a lead of 141 runs in return Australia lost there 4th wicket for 145 runs and a win looks for India probable in all circumstances but Damien Martyn who is the most stylish batsman in that Aussie line up have another plan he put up a masterclass of playing spin and went on to score a 100 of ages against Kumble & Harbhajan in that process he put up a 139 runs partnership with Jason Gillespie (who is always dodgy with his defence against opposition) with some support from Clarke Australia set a target of 229 runs and set a target of 229 runs for India. India ends day four with 19 runs on board and what might have a classical day 5 for spectators and fans all over the world was ruined by rain. It might have heartbreak of 1999 or a joy of 2008 but rain has other plans and everyone settle for a draw both captain in the end said that they have 50-50 chance of winning. Kumble adjudged Man of the Match for his 13 wickets in the game. Warne surpass Murali as highest wicket taker was probably highlight of the game.

The series went to Nagpur which has more twist and turn before the match began. The Vidarbha Cricket stadium before hosting the match become a talking point all over the places the political turmoil was very heavy in cricketing folklore when two powerful authorities have ego clash and wants to prove a point that I have bigger noes than other one have rather than India vs Australia the match become BCCI vs Vidarbha Cricket Association or Jagmohan Dalmiya vs Shashank Manohar, both are heavy weight in Indian Cricket administration and have heavy political backings. Jagmohan has full support of left parties all over India whereas Shashank was very close to Sharad Pawar group both are respected persons in there field and have work in betterment of Indian cricket. Dalmiya was known for his work and expansion of cricket in India which bring finance whereas Shashank was known for his work ethics, honesty and simplicity with clean work in administration but both ego got clash or a case where like pole repel each other. The team reach at Nagpur and from day one after reaching there the talking point or centre point become pitch, Saurav start saying in his media briefing that he has instructed curator to shave the grass and all of a sudden after he said this the curator went on missing(or he took a leave)and no one able to get him in touch which is quite unusual when match was going to happen after 5 days. For 5 days no one has idea about where the curator has gone and the buzz has started that Shashank camp have found method to pull down Dalmiya group Sourav and TM in his press briefing keep saying that the pitch isn't going to suit there strength but no one listen and just before the match Saurav ruled out for that game citing
